SHINEDOWN have released an e-book companion to their brand new ‘Amaryllis’ album, titled ‘FOR YOUR SAKE: Inside the Making of Shinedown’s Amaryllis’. The first-ever e-book by a major recording artist created using Apple’s just released iBooks 2 platform, ‘FOR YOUR SAKE’ is available online now at Apple’s iBookstore by clicking this link.
The project is an interactive experience that tells the official story of the band’s new release, with over 75 pages of words, never-before-seen photos, videos, and much more. Written by rock journalist Jonah Bayer and produced by Atlantic Records in the US, ‘FOR YOUR SAKE’ features four sections of exclusive content, including an exploration of the creative and recording process that led to ‘AMARYLLIS’ a revealing look at the band’s interpersonal and artistic dynamic, a track-by-track dissection of the album from frontman Brent Smith (including high-quality video commentary), and a fully immersive breakdown of the album’s complex and evocative artwork by Atlantic Records’ Creative Director David Harrigan. Designed especially for iPad users, ‘FOR YOUR SAKE’ offers fans a one-of-a-kind experience to enhance the band’s new music.
The video for ‘Bully’, the album’s first single and a viral video for the band’s second single ‘Unity’ are streaming now at ShinedownTV, the band’s official YouTube channel (located at www.youtube.com/ShinedownTV).
SHINEDOWN hit the road in the US yesterday as headliners on this year’s Avalanche Tour. The North American trek, presented by Zippo, began at The Grove in Anaheim, CA and continues through late April. Accompanying Shinedown are Adelita’s Way, plus additional support from New Medicine and Art of Dying. After that, the band return to Europe for the summer festival run, including an appearance at this year’s Download Festival on Sunday 10th June.
‘AMARYLLIS’ sees SHINEDOWN teaming up once again with multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), who previously collaborated with the band on their record-breaking ‘THE SOUND OF MADNESS’ album. The tracks were recorded at Cavallo’s Lightning Sound studios outside of Los Angeles and a pair of Hollywood landmarks, Ocean Way Recording and Capitol Studios.

in a rare Irish interview, DOUG STANHOPE took some time to speak to Entertainment.ie about life on the road, the ‘piece of sh*t’ that was his Comedy Central show with Joe Rogan, the beef that went down with Adam Carolla, his experience of making Louie with Louis CK and much more. You can read an extract from the interview below:
You live in Arizona and you’re on the road a lot. Are you working the clubs down there to get your new material together?
Doug: I take a lot of time off. It hurts me to do that but it’s the reason I’m alive to do anything. It’s like drinking on stage – I’m working on the perfect balance of how much I can drink whilst still doing a good show. You really want to push it to that edge. Right now we are doing a lot of gigs in a row. In the fall I was doing one or two shows and coming home and watching football but it didn’t really work out because if I do two shows and then take five days off, I don’t remember what the f*ck I said last week so Im starting from scratch each week you know? I find it’s best to do a sh*t load of work and then take a few months off.
How is the tour going? You’re in Wolverhampton tonight.
Doug: Yeah, it’s a town I have never heard of or been to but we are having a blast driving everywhere, putting up with crowds, airports, changing stations. We have a van and a driver and my girlfriend and a friend of mine are all with me so I’m having the best fun I’ve ever had over here.
So you’re still enjoying the road, then.
Doug: Yeah I am. I miss my dogs and I really love my home and I’m really good at doing nothing at all. I surprise myself at how good I am at doing nothing. If I burned a calorie a day I’d be amazed.
A lot of comedians are going down the route of podcasts and I’ve heard some of the stuff you did on the podcast with Joe Rogan. It’s brilliant and Joe seems to be really enjoying himself as the show goes on. Would you consider going down the podcast route yourself?
Doug: I haven’t had the courage to listen to that yet. I definitely would but I would burn out of guests very fast. I live in a town with 6000 people and the nearest city is 100 miles away so I could interview some of the weird people that are local who all have good stories but I would run out of guests too quickly.
Joe speaks very fondly about you. You are really good friends but he doesn’t speak too fondly of The Man Show. Was it tough working with a network or eye-opening?
Doug: It was a fantastic learning experience. We had blast doing the show. Not the actual show but the time around the show. It was f*cking awesome to be a bit rebellious and fun telling the suits to kiss our ass. But the show itself was a piece of sh*t. We couldn’t do anything about it though.

Hevy Petal were at the The Wolverhampton Slade Rooms a few weeks ago where Welsh metallers REVOKER supported the mighty Chimaira. They have posted a review and some photos from the night and you can read an extract below:
As Revoker begin playing it’s clear they already have some prestige among the audience. They keep a constant connection with the masses throughout their set and play with evident passion. Again, this band clearly loves simply playing a gig to a happy crowd. Their performance of The Great Protector is a particular highlight. By the end of their set they have the crowd so wound up sweat is literally dripping from the ceiling.

DOUG STANHOPE has posted a video on his YouTube channel that shows him trying to jump on his girlfriend Bingo whilst his pants are around his ankles. In his drunken stupor, he wakes her up and ruins the surprise. He still drops his pants though…and then jumps on her. She doesn’t seem that amused but you can judge for yourself by watching the clip below:

YOUNG THE GIANT were on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in January of this year and they performed ‘Apartment’ and ‘Cough Syrup’ whilst there. Check out both stunning performances below:

YOUNG THE GIANT recently had their song ‘Cough Syrup‘ featured in an emotional episode of the hit TV show Glee and frontman Sameer Gadhia spoke to Billboard about the band’s decision to allow the track to be used.
“Obviously there is that initial feeling of, ‘Oh yeah, it’s Glee,’ and none of us watch Glee
Many musicians have crossed over into other mediums, whether it’s acting, painting or even making their own wine. One medium a predominant amount of rock stars have tended to be drawn to is comic books. Over the years many musicians have either penned their own comics or starred in them. If they haven’t been that closely involved, they’re just plain old comic book geeks. This was recently evident when SLIPKNOT / STONE SOUR frontman COREY TAYLOR revealed his Top Comic Book Characters – read more by clicking here.
