Dream Theater bassist John Myung shared 5 tips for upcoming bassists. Check out the full piece over at MusicRadar.“If six string bass interests you, you could always see it as a four-string and play it as a four-string. That’s always how I saw it. The extra strings are there for creative purposes. You will accidentally hit a note that wasn’t normally available on a four-string and it might really sound cool.”
Corey Taylor explains where the title for Stone Sour‘s new album ‘Hydrograd’ originated from over at Loudwire; “So my brain is trying to do geometry while also at a sprint because I don’t wanna miss my plane. I pass one and I look up and I could have swore it said ‘Hydrograd.’ And I kept running for a second and I was, like, ‘Hydrograd? Where the hell is Hydrograd? What?’”

Whilst in London we spoke to Chris Motionless about the lyrical influences behind Motionless In White’s brand new album ‘Graveyard Shift’. Grab your copy of the album here.
Roadrunner recording group Motionless In White have premiered the video for “Eternally Yours,” which follows the release of their raucous label debut album, GRAVEYARD SHIFT, available at all DSPs. In celebration of their album release, Motionless In White is heading back to their hometown area tonight for an in-store appearance at Gallery Of Sound in Wilkes Barre, PA. Motionless In White will also conduct a live Twitter listening event at 9pm tonight where fans can listen to GRAVEYARD SHIFT along with the band.
As if that were not enough, Motionless In White is also set to light up an array of festivals around the world, including Concord, NC’s Carolina Rebellion (Sunday, May 7th), Somerset, WI’s Northern Invasion (Sunday, May 14th), and Columbus, OH’s Rock on the Range (Friday, May 19th). From there the band will cross the Atlantic for a European tour highlighted by headline dates and festival performances including Luxembourg’s The A’s Mayhem (Sunday, June 4th), Donnington Park’s Download UK 2017 (Friday, June 9th), Lyon, FR’s LongLive RockFest (Tuesday, June 13th), Dessel, BE’s Graspop Metal Meeting (Friday, June 16th), Copenhagen, DK’s Copenhell (June 22nd-24th), Madrid, ES’s Download Madrid (June 22nd-24th), and Gräfenhainichen, DE’s With Full Force Festival (June 22nd-24th).
GRAVEYARD SHIFT follows 2014’s chart-topping REINCARNATE, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Rock Albums” chart as well as at #9 on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200. Motionless In White’s third studio album was highlighted by the blockbuster title track, a top 20 Active Rock radio favorite accompanied by a striking companion video now boasting nearly 14 million individual views at YouTube alone.
GRAVEYARD SHIFT’s striking artwork was selected from over 2000 contest entries from fans and designers in partnership with Creative Allies. The contest’s winner, Crystal Johnson, created the album’s cover as well as other elements in the album package (see album art / track listing below).
Founded in 2005, Motionless In White has won over audiences worldwide with their aggressive music and arresting imagery. The band – currently comprising lead singer Chris Motionless, guitarists Ryan Sitkowski and Ricky Horror, bassist Devin “Ghost” Sola, and drummer Vinny Mauro – have proven a ferocious and inventive live act, earning an increasingly fervent fan following via countless headline shows, festival sets, and tours alongside such iconic acts as Slipknot, Korn, and Breaking Benjamin.
Tipped as one of Britain’s hottest rising rock bands, MILK TEETH can now announce that they’ve signed with Roadrunner Records UK. The band’s first release for the label comes with the brand new EP ‘Be Nice’ which will be out on July 28th. ‘Be Nice’ represents the first of two interlinked EPs, with the second to follow later this year. In addition, MILK TEETH have also announced details of a summer UK headline tour that includes a London show at The Borderline.
“Roadrunner is the home of the bands that we grew up listening to and who have influenced our own sound today,” says vocalist/bassist Becky Blomfield. “They work with the best and we are so stoked to be welcomed as part of the next breed of artists with the potential to inspire the next generation. Our teenage selves were kicking about in little towns not knowing where we would end up, and almost a decade later we can say Slipknot are our label mates. Not bad for a bunch of kids from Stroud.”
Produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor), ‘Be Nice’ opens with the grunge meets power-pop slacker anthem ‘Owning Your Okayness’ which was picked as Daniel P Carter’s Rockest Record at Radio 1, while the second track ‘Prism’ captures their punchy mix of attitude, melody and aggression. That energy continued unabated in ‘Fight Skirt’ which features Blomfield’s snarling vocals pitched against Billy Hutton’s frenetic shouts as its rushes to an intense conclusion.
The EP comes to a surprising conclusion with the final track ‘Hibernate’ which stands out as being completely different from anything else from the band’s discography. Accompanied by plaintive guitar, Blomfield’s voice cracks with vulnerability and emotional turmoil as she delivers confessional lines such as “I won’t bear the guilt of giving up or be the one who’s not enough / Don’t let me fuck it up” before the band erupt into a final cathartic wall of sound.
The ‘Be Nice’ EP is now available to pre-order at milkteethpunx.com. In addition, a brand new t-shirt design is available to buy exclusively as a bundle with the 12” vinyl throughout the EP’s pre-order run only.
