Combining the complex atypical rhythms and technical precision of math rock with the sensational brutality of progressive metal, Washington D.C’s Periphery will unleash their highly anticipated self-titled debut on July 5th 2010.
The band comments, “We are very proud of this album. We've been working on it for years, so it's been a long time coming. It's 73 minutes long and truly encompasses the vision, versatility, and range of influences the band has. We couldn't be more excited to release this album, and then hopefully come tour in Europe for all of our fans and friends.”
Multi-talented guitarist/lead songwriter Misha Mansoor, who founded Periphery in 2004, not only handled the production duties, but also held the reins for the mixing and mastering of the album. While recording, the band invited a couple of friends to appear - listen out particularly for the guitar solo from Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) in ‘Racecar’.
Periphery has always had a constant stream of inspiration. To date, the band has recorded over one hundred songs and continues to deliver new tracks on a regular basis, pushing the boundaries of their compositional structure every time.
Taking a DIY approach to getting their music heard over the years, Periphery garnered the attention of metal fans across the globe by deciding to make all of their songs available to listeners online. Inspired by their fans feedback and fervent requests, the band frequently adds new music and video blogs, constantly cultivating a strong online presence and leading them to recently premiere their new video for first single ‘Icarus Lives!’ with major US music website Metal Injection.
This continuous exposure on the web, combined with a strong hometown following, has provided Periphery the opportunity to showcase their explosive live show and groundbreaking tracks on heavyweight US tours such as Summer Slaughter and The Thrash & Burn Tour, as well as playing alongside metal stalwarts such as Lamb Of God, Between The Buried And Me, DevilDriver, Darkest Hour, and Despised Icon. Next, Periphery will perform at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival in Massachusetts, before embarking on an Australian tour with Dillinger Escape Plan in May.
Periphery is: Spencer Sotelo – Vocals, Misha Mansoor – Guitars, Alex Bois – Guitars, Jake Bowen – Guitars, Tom Murphy – Bass, and Matt Halpern – Drums.
