Frontman Corey Taylor, himself a bestselling author with last year's ‘Seven Deadly Sins', wrote the lyrics for the 24 tracks that make up the ‘House Of Gold & Bones' as a linear storyline, following the tale of a compelling character of Taylor's making. The morality play began in Part 1 (a story booklet is included in the packaging) and concludes in Part 2. A 4-part comic book/graphic novel series is set for release, following the story behind the lyrics. The first part of this collaboration with Dark Horse Comics hit stores on 17th April. The series features stunning cover illustrations by Jason Shawn Alexander (Batman, Empty Zone, Abe Sapien), who was hand-picked by Taylor for the job.
Summing up the album as a whole, guitarist Josh Rand comments, "House of Gold & Bones takes everything that's great about this band and amplifies it. The riffs, the lyrics, the grooves and the songs are like Stone Sour times ten. There's also heavy stuff that's like nothing we've ever done before - it's dark as hell and a complete experience from the first track to the last."
The band cross the pond to the UK for a Sunday slot at Donington Park's Download Festival on 16th June. Taylor and Stone Sour guitarist, Jim Root's aforementioned ‘other' band, SLIPKNOT, headline the festival on the Friday night (14 June).
