Mastodon & Signature Brew announce the release of Black Tongue an 8.3% ABV Double Black IPA! Signature Brew have made a name for themselves brewing craft beers in collaboration with artists, but a beer the size and complexity of Mastodon's Black Tongue is by far the most ambitious. A year and a half in the making; with Brann and the guys deciding flavours and direction throughout, this is a Double Black IPA of huge proportions.

Rumbling smoky notes are offset by the elixir of misbehaving punchy hops. Mosaic and Magnum hops to the front, with Carafa Special 3 Malt and Pale on the baseline. The band wanted to create a 'pallet crusher' and that's certainly what has been delivered. A beer for enjoying slowly, letting the bombardment of flavour and intensity hit your tongue and explode with every sip.

Sam McGregor from Signature Brew had this to say: "From the very beginning of Signature Brew we wanted to work with Mastodon. They are an extremely progressive and uncompromising band, so we wanted to carry through that attitude and complexity in to a beer. The band, in particular Brann, enjoy a plethora of hop forward IPAs, which made for a great tasting session with Tom and I, as some of our favourites definitely overlapped, yet we discovered a malt character was an important factor in their beers too. A Black IPA was the obvious choice for the style very quickly, however we've spent over a year making it perfect, it had to stand up to their music. "

Black Tongue is available worldwide online in 330ml bottles from, and in the UK in selected pubs, bars and off-licenses... for now.
