SCAR THE MARTYR // UK TOUR THIS DECEMBER!
Posted on November 5, 2013Scar The Martyr, the new project unveiled by Slipknot drum legend and songwriting mainstay Joey Jordison, have announced a UK headline tour for December.
The start date of the tour marks 14 years to the day that Jordison first played in the UK with Slipknot, at their now legendary debut show at London's Astoria. Joey is looking forward to returning to these shores with his latest project, reflecting: "You know irony is an odd thing, but as the saying goes, history always seems to repeat itself. The first time I came to the UK with Slipknot was on December 13th, 1999 at the London Astoria, and to this day, it still remains in my memory as one of the best times I've ever had on tour. Fast forward now 14 years later, and I'm coming back to the UK on December 13th with my new venture Scar The Martyr. I can't wait to establish new memories, but more importantly bring a vicious live show that the fans can sink their teeth into. The UK fans never disappoint, and I expect nothing less this time around. We'll see you all soon!"
Full dates run as follows:
Fri 13th Dec - WOLVERHAMPTON Slade Rooms
Sat 14th Dec - MANCHESTER Club Academy
Mon 15th Dec - GLASGOW Cathouse
Tue 17th Dec - NOTTINGHAM Rescue Rooms
Wed 18th Dec - LONDON Underworld
Having pulled out of the support slot on the Alice In Chains UK dates, Scar The Martyr will now be touring the US next month opening for Rob Zombie and Korn's mammoth double-header, before crossing the pond for their December UK shows.
Widely acknowledged as not only one of the best known drummers in hard rock, but also one of the most technically gifted, all-round musicians (Joey is one of very few artists with both a signature drum kit AND a signature guitar model), Joey not only plays drums, but also bass and rhythm guitars on the Scar The Martyr record. He enlisted guitarist friends, Jed Simon (ex-Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour) to play leads, and the project also features vocalist Henry Derek and keyboard scientist Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails). "I wrote the core of the music myself, but Henry did all the vocals and wrote all the lyrics, and Chris Vrenna from NIN did all the keys," comments Joey.
